Day 1

Proverbs 6:32

But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself.

In this discussion we are answering the question; why does sexual immorality and lack of ethics thrive in our community? We have already seen that the view of everybody is doing it is one reason.

The second reason is fear. Fear is the opposite of faith. I have just been talking about having faith in God in his love. The more you have fear, the less you trust God. You wonder’…haiyah! If I don’t do this what will happen to me? If I say no to this boy, I may not get another boy, I will be single for life. You say, okay, I don’t want to sin but if he insists won’t leave him. That way My friend, you will join him as he goes to hell. Trust God to provide a marriage partner at the right time?

Fear can make you do many unethical things, and many who do wrong things it is because of fear. And that is why many bosses will intimidate you to compromise. I am going to Naivasha this weekend, they say,if you don’t go with me, don’t bother reporting to work next week. I will fire you! oh if you fire me what will my children eat? Or if you fire me, where will I get my rent? No, I am coming. I don’t agree with it I am a Christian but I am still coming. What is making you go? Fear.

The bible has three boys; Shadrach, Abednego and Meshach; who are told that the king has decreed that everybody must worship a statue of the king ‘€”an idol. They said they can’t, God does not allow us to do that. Our integrity does not allow us. Hey you should report us immediately to your king. I am sure you know the story, isn’t it? They reported to the king and the king said, young men what is wrong with you? Just go bow to the statue and this matter will be off. They said king, let us be clear, we shall not worship the statue. Why? Our God is able to rescue us from your fire. But if he chooses not to rescue us, will still will not worship the statue. We are ready to go into fire.

The king was so annoyed, he made the furnace to be heated .How many times hotter? Seven times the normal. And by the time they are trying to throw in the three boys into the fire, the people who were doing it all died! Have you read that? Yeah, then they are thrown into the fire. Only for the king to look and he said, you throw in three men, how many are they now? Four! By the time they came out, they were not even smelling fire.

For sure instead of the LORD protecting them from being thrown in the fire, he allowed that they are thrown into the fire and then did a miracle which rescued them from the fire. Not fearing the fire came from trusting God. So maybe you are about to be fired and you fear you will be jobless and have nothing to eat. Then you discover God has in immediate job. Would that not be a miracle?

Day 2

Leviticus 20:10

‘If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife ” with the wife of his neighbour” both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death.

So, you need to understand that fear and integrity are not relatives. You can’t have fear and have integrity at the same time. Integrity comes from trusting God which causes you to be ready to face anything including death. So, you cannot be intimidated because you know very well that even if you lost all, God will replace and that has happened to me at work before I retired. The boss asked ..Do I fire you or you change ? Yeah, go ahead. Where I come from I know God will look after me. Finally, I never got fired I worked until retirement.

But when your integrity annoys people, they think they can threaten you with firing you. But from the moment I got employed, I knew the job was God’s way for providing for my children. In other words, this is not where my resource is from, my source is in God only he is using this employment. If He stops using this one, he will start using another source? The important thing is He is still is in charge of my provisions. So, being fired from one job, does it stop God from using other sources? He will still provide.

And it is important to ask yourself, why are you allowing yourself to be intimidated yet you claim to trust God? Is it that you don’t believe in God? What will happen to me? You wonder then feel Intimidation, fear.

And the synonym for the same excuse is helplessness ‘€”Or hopeless. You know the children of Israel;after they have run away from Egypt , the LORD has guided them to a corner where the Red Sea is ahead of them, the soldiers of Pharaoh were coming from behind and they started saying, surely, were there no graves in Egypt? Why do you want us to die here in the desert? Because in their own mind, they know they are cornered. They forgot they have a God without a corner. You are cornered but God is not cornered. The red sea opened form them to cross.

When I was employed I used to cover Sudan, so I remember going to Port Sudan on the Red Sea. That is when I realized it is not a river! You can’t see across it. Seeing the big sea, they forgot God cannot be cornered. What happened? They walked through the dry ground across the Red Sea.

Are you understanding that God cannot be cornered? You can be cornered but God cannot be cornered. So even in a dreadful corner, stick with the truth, have integrity and then wait to see how God will do with the corners.

So, there will never an excuse to lack integrity when you have a trust in a God who cannot be cornered. And it is very important you ask yourself, is that something you believe in or is it not? And I think it will be important to ask yourself that.

But sense of helplessness cannot be with somebody who is having God as his real source. The fear of the boss, or fear of losing a job will not be with him. The worst of them is fear of death. Let me be clear I don’t think you can have integrity if you feel you are not ready to die for it.

I have heard somebody come to my office and tell me clearly, you handle my contract like that, and hope you will be safe. Initially contractors tried to bribe me then I refused the bribes. Finally, they threaten me with getting me fired then I did not get fired. Finally, they come to tell me, I need to be eliminated in hidden threatens.One of them was a Kikuyu who, told me, ‘”Your children will not eat when mine are not eating!'” and I told him, I know you can do it . Since they owned petroleum tankers, all they needed is to ask one of their drivers, when they noted my car, just turned the tanker a little and I hit it and I will be dead. And maybe they then start calling it an accident!

I asked the old man, where you come from, have you heard about the people who are saved? They normally say they want to go to heaven and the earlier the better. And the guy walked out of my office. There is no way you can keep the integrity until you are ready to die. After all, according to the Bible when you die, you go to a better place. So, when you fear it is because you don’t believe God’s word is true. If you know it is true, you cannot fail to follow the truth, that heaven is better place.Do not fail to follow the integrity way because of fearing dying. After all, dying is going home and heaven is your home.

That is why I keep saying, this country, the solution only lies on church ‘€”Christians. Christians know Christ died for us became the first fruit from the dead and that tells us even if you die you go to heaven. A Christian has no reason to compromise whatever the threat. If death is not enough to make you accept immorality what else will do so?

Day 3

Exodus 20:14

‘You shall not commit adultery.

So, don’t let fear interfere with your trust in God, interfere with your holiness and integrity. People ask you why did you compromise and you reply ‘… What could I have done? He or she could have done something that could have destroyed me for life! That is why I did it. No! No one has such power ..not when God is on your side.

Those are two first reason as to why people compromise… everybody is doing it and the other one is fear. Those two are major causes of people lacking compromising their integrity even in church. Sometimes you just fear when the bishop tells you something. What he is telling you is not Christian but you feel eh I don’t want to be thrown out of church I must give in. So, you actually do the wrong thing. You argue after all I was told to do it. No, noooh! Before the judgement seat of Christ, you will not be able to say, you were told. You take responsibility for your own actions.

The next reason for compromise is materialism. I am looking at things that cause us to have immorality thriving in our communities. What is materialism? It is getting your value in things. You know people who have no integrity, they value things and so they use people to get things. If you have integrity, it is opposite. You value people and use things to benefit people. Are you getting the difference? That truly if you have integrity, you know you were created in the image of God, your friend is created in the image of God so you never manipulate people because you value people.

Materialism is starting to see things as what you were created to be. As my wife always say, you can always tell where somebody will finally end if they define for you what success is. Your definition for success tells you where you are going. If you believe success is having a million shillings, since nobody wants to be a failure, you will do everything and anything in order to get a million shillings. That is materialism. The moment you feel you are defined by what you have, you will compromise to reach it. Some are defined by the car they drive. So, somebody will drive a Mercedes which he cannot afford to impress people who don’t even care. Did you hear what I said? Yeah, maybe for you it is not a Mercedes it is a dress. You are buying a dress yet you do not have enough money so you are taking a loan to impress people who don’t even look at you. Is that clever? No, that is materialism.

And materialism has nothing to do with if you are rich for even poor people are materialistic because materialism is thinking that the moment I have more money I will be happier. Because you think your happiness is tied up with what you own.

In fact, somebody said and I agree with them, sometimes you can tell whether your husband is materialistic or not. You know the salary comes at the end of the month, so watch him around 25th and when he comes home, you can always tell there is nothing in the bank. Wait until 1st and he comes home singing,and that way you know money is in the account! Now that means his joy is tied up to his bank account. That is what materialism is.

If you are materialistic, integrity and morality will go through the window. Do you define yourself in terms of grades? That if you are number one in your class, you are better than people who are number last? No! you are not. Maybe God has given you a better IQ than others. But there is something else he has given others which you don’t have. Am I right? So, you do not value people by their position in class. You don’t look at people by how their nose is, or how long their nose is. What is wrong with your nose? You ask. Now, I did not participate in creating it. You have to accept me the way I am and you can’t blame me for a nose which I never participated in creating. You know there are people who look down on themselves; oh God, why did you make me so ugly? Because they are materialistic! They define themselves by how they look.

Day 4

1 John 2:15

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

That is what it means to be materialistic. People who always thinking of is getting rich. Any time your definition of success has to do with what you get, what you have, and some of them is money, others is power. That is how people go into politics for power. You feel more important because you have more power. That is all we are calling materialism. And it will be very important to understand clearly there is no integrity with you in the long term., for example if you regard getting an ‘”A'” is so critical and not getting it will finish you. You will go to see what the teacher can help at whatever cost.But if you don’t believe that getting a ‘”D'” will kill you, then you understand that if it happens you might not study law, but you can do something else. That is what God wants you to do after all and it requires the D you got. So, you will do your very best but you will leave the results to God. You will do your business very well but you leave the results to God because if it does not define you, it does not determine who you are.

The moment you are materialistic, let us come out clear, you will not have integrity. Many corrupt people are not corrupt because they are poor, they are corrupt because they want more. Many sexually immoral people have spouse already but want taste more. Would you agree with me? They have gotten very rich yet they are still stealing more. And the more you have the bigger the theft.

That is why you are sent by your mother to buy something then you buy something of less value to leave yourself with a balance at a very early age. Why? How can I do it without money? Money huvunja milima! Love of money can destroy. Have you ever heard people talking about that? You think money defines life, it doesn’t! there are many happy people who have no money and there are many unhappy people who have more money. The moment money does not drive you, you will see yourself living a life of integrity because you don’t feel desperate. It is the same with sex. If you are not a sex addict you be happy with or without it.

The moment you define yourself the way God defines you, you will never give into a boy because you think nobody even looks my way. So you start dressing scantly so that boys start looking at you. No, you know God values you as you are, assuming you are a Christian. God values you and that is what matters to you. God values everything about you. So if boys do not look at you it is their problem not yours.., shauri yao! Why? In the manufacturing factory God is manufacturing a husband and when it is time, you see him looking your direction. So, you don’t become desperate in your dressing, or in your spending of money in order to win anybody. You know God will bring you somebody as long as you are acting responsibly the way God will want you to act.

Day 5

2 Timothy 4:10

for Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.

Materialism is a whole subject worth discussing because of its impact on us. I have written a bit on it in my book on INTEGRITY. It will destroy you until you come to where you find your value in the way God looks at it. And if God is happy with you that is what will make you happy. That way you enjoy knowing that God loves you, that your joy comes knowing that God is your supplier. Your joy comes out knowing God created you for a purpose and He will fulfil it.The moment you feel haiyah! God is happy with me, that is what matters.

We are too busy wanting to get accolades from people,so we compromise. Already you have heard the story of this young man who by the age of nine, he could play the piano so well he could fill up a theatre in London with people wanting to hear him playing the piano. One day he filled London hall and his friends and relatives, joined in. He played the first song and got a standing ovation but he was seated there on the piano looking not too happy. He played the second one,third etc but by break time his friends run to him asking, what is wrong with? Everybody is excited with your music and you are looking unhappy. Don’t you see how well you are doing?

He replied, wait a minute. Do you see that old man far at the back? Yes. That is my trainer. My eyes are on him and on the reaction on his face I know his face shows , you could have played better. But after all you people. You don’t do music. You keep clapping for even what is not best yet. How can I get excited when people who don’t know music get excited? I am watching my trainer; my eyes are on him. Live your life for the audience of one and nothing will tempt you to compromise.

Day 6

James 2:5

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?

What gives you contentment is putting your eyes on God, it doesn’t matter what your parents say, it doesn’t matter what your uncle say, it doesn’t matter what your boss say. If the LORD is happy with you, you should sleep like a child that night. That way you will never get to a level where you feel you must break rules to win a favor . If your argument is I have no alatintive..nitado.. You are defining your life badly.

That is why you are ending up with all kinds of debts and compromises because you don’t want to live within your means. After all you will feel within your means will feel valueless. My friend let’s be clear, whether you eat Weetabix or porridge in the morning both are starch. You are still healthy. Starch may have from Weetabix or came from the porridge or came from the bread. All the body is after is starch. So why are you bothered that had less money and so you did not eat Weetabix?

That is what we are meaning by materialism. It doesn’t make sense, because anybody who have done science knows that whether you pay a lot of money or less you still get get what you really need.

Once you live beyond your means I give you money to pay back next week then you can repay. Next week you start running hiding from me. I see you run away from me. Another week I can’t find you, two weeks and when I finally see you, you ask, Brother Nganga surely you are asking for only a thousand? If I had put a thousand in a bank account I could have gotten interest, isn’t it? So who are you? A thief of credit even you give back my money after a month. You never stole my money but you stole my credit.

Day 7

John 12:25

Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

So you are reading this and there is a debt you have not repaid, you are thief. The truth is the owner wanted the money earlier, you have not given him. You intend to pay him but you will pay him after taking credit. And you start asking God what do I do? Simple call him this afternoon and say, I have just discovered that I am a thief. Your money I intend to return; I should have returned two weeks ago but I have not returned, I am now in your jail. Can you forgive me for keeping your money and then give me more two weeks? The owner says, ha it is okay, it is okay. After that If you see him, will you run away again? No, because in banking terms there is rescheduling of the loan. Rescheduling means the bank is no longer after you, for it has given you an extended time. If you owe someone money it easy for him to make you compromise even sexually.

And that is the same thing you do with people. If you are man of integrity and I lend you man, you are my prisoner. If you want to come out of prison come back and tell Nganga, I promised money at the end of last week and failed. Forgive me., I promise you at the end of next week. I now know I am not able to pay I am coming to you for reschedule. Surely, I know you will demand the money, I beg you please give me another week. If I say yes, we will still be friends. You’re out of my guilt jail . A man of integrity admits when they are wrong and then seeks for forgiveness.

Remember I am still answering the question; why we are having a community that has no sexual morality and integrity generally . I have told you the first reason is everybody is doing it syndrome. The second one was fear and now the third one is materialism.
